  1. this is a shock to me i feel ashamed that i didn’t know this my parents are
Jamaican and Guyanese i grew up in a Caribbean household and never the less
a Caribbean community where even a festival of West Indian culture is held
every year and i had no clue whatsoever about the country of Dominica i
thought that both Dominican rep and Dominica were some Spanish people and
spoke Spanish this shocked me today.

    Yes Dominica not Dominican Republic.

  3. As different societies around the world is changing so is Dominica. Well it
would fall in the category. With the rapid advancement of technology today,
as well as other educational advancements, yes your Mom is right. It is not
the same. LoL, what about the lifestyle and the Island did you not like?
What was the main difference from what you are used to when you visisted?

  4. I love this video! X I love Dominica X

Yep. I bet LOTS of peeps think it’s the Dominican Republic. To make matters
worse, people from the Dominican Republic are also called Dominicans (at
least in English). It’s a bit like how people confuse The Bahamas with
Barbados or Barbuda or Bermuda or refer to “The Barbados” as though we’re a
group of islands. They assume that because it ends with an “s”, it’s more
    than one island. Sigh …

I was there 20yrs ago, and having travelled a lot, it still remains one of
    the best places I’ve been…but I want to keep that a secret…one day I’ll
    go back :)

  14. Going to Dominica in November for a week! I’m so excited! It seems like you
can’t find anything other than good reviews for all the tours.. so does
anyone have any recommendations for things they enjoy? Also any Vegan
    restaurants you like?

    • I see that you would have been there and back, What was your experience
      Randy?

    • It was wonderful! Thank you for asking. My girlfriend and I stayed for a
week and got to do a lot. We went out probably 4 days and relaxed a couple
days. I would love to visit again. Very beautiful, and everyone we met was
very friendly and helpful. It’s surprising to me that it wasn’t overly
crowded even on cruise ship days. I think we just missed the busses.
Looking at my pictures someone would think I visited a few different
countries and not just one. Would have stayed for months if I could have!

    • +Randy Davis Glad you had such a good time, Thanks for the response,
Maybe one day I’ll make it there. )

    • no prob. hopefully you’ll make it there. we stayed pretty far from Roseau
in Pagua Bay and the people there were great. They always asked if we had
any plans for the day and set something up for us. So much to do though..
we didn’t really have enough time.

  15. If you are a single man looking for fun yes. But this not a place for a
family or anyone looking for nice stable sunshine life. 90% of expats leave
in total misery due to corrupt leaders not mentioning lawyers constantly
preying on foreigners etc. Within the first yr. It seems interesting but
after even a few months one gets the real image of drugs, prostituion etc.
HIV figures aledgely very high as well.
Think twice. The ppl. who promote this place usually have a share in local
profits and tend to paint a false facade.

    ..

    • who are you alex boyd and why in hell are you tying to bring down my
country by spreding these blatent lies? i live in dominica and experience
the wonderful nature and extreme diversity that my country offers every
day. i am significantly proud to be from this country. this is one that is
definitely not false but complete truth. dominicans may not be the richest
persons in the world, but we are sure amoung the happiest. with one of the
lowest crime rates on earth and a government who undoubtedly is working for
the people and is of the people , dominica is on its way to continued
success. an island that has nature, luxury, wildlife , friendly people and
an amazing culture, a country which its poverty rate ha reduced
significantly, where education is a top priority and a government that
helps its citizens more than any government in the world. where are you
getting this blatent lie that 90% ofexpats live in total misery, a country
with an indigence rate of 6%.drugs are not widly used in my countrycompared
to other nations and we have one of the lowest hiv/AIDS rates in the
regionn………so again i ask who are you? your either a hater or someone
      who doesnt live here,
